Free Thank You for Making This Year Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy

This beginner-friendly crochet headband pattern will teach you, step-by-step, how to make a trendy, headband style ear warmer that's perfect for the cooler months.

IT'S FINALLY BEANIE SEASON! Thanks have started picking up around here, I have a market in November and will be doing a pop up in a local boutique a few weekends each month!

I believe this will be my last pattern of 2018 (I may have one more up my sleeve) but I really wanted to share it with you before orders completely took over my life.

The Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy Headband (#EPLSHeadband)  is such a simple pattern, very beginner-friendly. They work up so fast, and it's easy to modify if you want to make different sizes.

The key to this pattern is the Bernat Home Decor yarn. To me, this yarn just makes the headband look so elegant and luxurious. I love the look of this yarn and I love working with it, but I don't know a whole lot of patterns that call for it. (Except for the Cozy Moon Coffee Cozy, which I LOVE!)

I have made the EPLS Headband with lots of other yarns too and honestly they're all pretty! I love the thicker worsted weight best.

Looking for the ad-free printable PDF version? It is here in my shop for only $3.00

Here is the full video tutorial if you are more of a visual learner or if you just need a little extra help with your first one.

Here's what you will need
– Bernat Home Decor Yarn
– Size J crochet hook– I am using my clover amour size J which I find gives me the same gauge as a Susan Bates size I hook.
– Scissors
– Tapestry Needle

Stitch Key

CH- Chain
SC- Single Crochet
DC- Double Crochet
* Repeat

Special stitches

Lemon Peel Stitch: The whole headband is made using the Lemon Peel Stitch. If you are not familiar with this stitch don't worry,  I will explain below.

Back Bump:This is where you flip your starting chain over and insert your hook into the "back bump" of the chain and place your stitch there. If you are unfamiliar with this technique I would suggest watching this tutorial below by Fiber Flux on YouTube. You do not have to use this technique, you can just single crochet as you normally would, but I feel like the back bump technique is cleaner.

I have written the pattern out in the adult size fitting heads with a 22-23 inch circumference, but I have included instructions on how to modify the pattern for a child size and a toddler size at the end of the pattern.

Gauge: 12 stitches x 12 rows = 4.25" square. Lemon Peel stitch. (sorry I'm awful at making gauge swatches)

Tie off and sew in tails with your tapestry needle. IT'S THAT SIMPLE!!! If you want to get fancy you could add a cute tag. I get mine from All This Wood on Etsy.

Heres the trick to adjusting the counts for different sizes. Start with a chain of an even number and end on an odd number for your number of rows.

Toddler Size: Chain 38 and Lemon Peel stitch for 5 rows (7 is cute too).
Child Size: Chain 44 and Lemon Peel stitch for 7 rows.
